You don’t get a second chance to make the first impression.

Many of us have heard this expression before and probably agree. But, we go in and out of our lives without giving much thought to the impression we leave behind. Especially our first impression. Those of us in sales sometimes wonder why our sales aren’t as good as they could or should be. Have you ever wondered why? Maybe we should look at our first impression and the way we present ourselves. Would you make major purchases yourself? Many of us can honestly say “No” and expect others to do just that. Let’s take a look at some of the things that can make or break your image or first impression.

Many times I have been at a presentation or seminar and out of nowhere someone walks into the room and immediately catches my eye. Sometimes they are the speaker or presenter, and sometimes they just attend the event. I also observe the people around me and their reactions when observing the person who has entered. It’s amazing how conversations stop and a lot of emotions come up. Some people are envious, some are light-hearted, some walk away and continue their conversation, but you can tell their attention is still on the person who walked in.

Many of us don’t realize how important our first impression is, not only to the people around us, but also to our own image. However, very few take steps to improve that image and in turn improve the first impression they leave. It doesn’t take much to make the necessary changes to enter and command the attention of a room wherever you go. There are some key things to remember to improve the way others see us and ourselves. Some of these keys are:

1. Learn to walk gracefully and with style

2. Keep your head up and level

3. Scan the room and see who is there at a glance

4. Smile and do not recognize the people you meet.

5. The posture must be tall and strong.

6. Dress in elegant but flattering clothes

These are just a few keys that can be expanded. However, many simply don’t want to put in the effort or time to look their best. They settle for being mediocre or average and wonder why their life is the same. Some say it’s what’s on the inside that matters, which is true up to a point. But who will know what is inside from appearances on the outside. Can you judge a book by its cover? Whether we can or not is not the point, many times we do. Are you the best you can be? If you are in sales of any kind or are a speaker anywhere, it is very important that you carry yourself with pride and dominate your entrance so that you do not have to show that you have the confidence to provide a worthwhile product or service. the attention of your audience. If you do this you will see that your sales will go through the roof. If you find yourself in a customer service situation, your ability to create a positive experience for the people you serve will improve dramatically. Your body language speaks louder than words. Your attitude is everything. You will never be more successful than your ability to believe in yourself. Your outward appearance expresses how you see yourself. Are you telling the real story?
