Clear Creative Blocks Forever

When nature calls, you honor this call… right? But what can be done when the good old pipes are backed up? Yes… when your creativity is constipated, what can you do?

Tip to increase creativity #1: Sit on your “toilet” every day, so you can reclaim your “power to create and manifest.” There’s no need to use a plunger or any brute force to get your creative flow going again. Simply choose your favorite spot in your home (aka your sanctuary), free from visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, gustatory (such as food) and other distractions, and allow creativity to come to you. Conversely, if an environment with white noise sparks your creativity, choose to write or create at your local coffee shop or with music at home.

Creativity boosting tip #2: Jump around, you know like the House of Pain song? Do what I call a-bun-dance by dancing to your favorite songs or using your mini trampoline for 5-10 minutes. (You can find this inexpensive exercise equipment at your local store.)

Tip to boost creativity #3: For a minute, hang like a rag doll; make sure to keep your knees slightly bent. This stretch gets blood flowing back to your brain and increases your energy, focus, and creativity.

Tip to boost creativity #4: Consider entertaining this belief… that there is no such thing as a creative block. It is simply a figment of your imagination. Once you release this belief, you will reconnect with your creativity, which resides in the third chakra (energy center) of your body.

Tip to boost creativity #5: See the creative process as a practice instead of a game, where you win or lose, you will notice that it is much easier to access your creative flow.

Tip to boost creativity #6: Befriend and tap into your Inner Perfectionist… at the right time: when you’re proofreading and editing your copy, for example, not when you’re writing.

Tip to boost creativity #7: Ask the Universe for ideas and inspiration. All you need is patience and the willingness to see and welcome them once they reach you.

Tip to boost creativity #8: Be willing to delve into your area of expertise and emotions. Once you do, you will find that a wellspring of ideas and information will emerge for you. Don’t worry about being physically and emotionally clean and tidy while creating. After all, the more complicated the process, the more masterpiece you can create!

Creativity Booster #9: Use your favorite tool to create. That is, if you are a writer, you can always write using a pad of paper and a pencil equipped with an eraser. Or you can write your draft on your computer.

Creativity booster #10: Take a break from your creativity. Go on vacation or a long weekend and refrain from bringing any work (including creativity-related work) with you. Or change the scenery: drive to your local beach, hang out under a tree, fully breathe in all the beauty of your surroundings, and write with all your heart. As the saying goes, a change is as good as a break.
